Summer Reading with Beanstack

Want to stay motivated to read more this summer? It’s not too late to join one of our reading challenges, which run through the end of August. We have a Read to Me Challenge for pre-readers and a Children’s Reading Challenge for readers going into kindergarten through fifth grade. Readers heading into sixth through 12th grades can take the Tween & Teen Summer Challenge, while adults can join the fun with the Adult Summer Reading Challenge.

This year we’re using Beanstack to keep track of your reading progress, and we think you’ll like how convenient it is. You can register your family or yourself on the login page, and you can download the app to your phone by searching for “Beanstack.” Independent readers will log every 2 hours of reading, and pre-readers will log books. Caregivers, take note: To add books for pre-readers, simply scan the publisher’s barcode with your phone.

In addition to logging your reading, you’ll find Activity Badges that might encourage you to get outside, indulge your creativity, or read a variety of genres—fantasies, mysteries, classics, etc.—depending on which challenge you’ve accepted. After you complete an Activity Badge, you’ll earn an entry ticket in the grand prize drawing for your challenge. You can earn up to five tickets for activities and 10 for reading. Grand prizes include gift cards to American Science & Surplus, GameStop, Half Price Books, Starbucks and more!

You can also write book reviews on Beanstack and share them with the Greenfield Public Library community. Who knows? You might discover your next great read from a neighbor. And don’t forget: If you have questions about Beanstack or want help logging reading or activities, head to the Reference Desk, email libref@greenfieldwi.us or call (414) 391-9595. Good luck, and happy reading!
